Who Is Eligible?

To participate in the NLCSP, you must meet the following criteria:
 • Aged between 50 and 70 years
 • Asymptomatic (no current signs or symptoms of lung cancer)
 • Currently smoke, or quit smoking within the last 10 years
 • Have a smoking history of at least 30 pack-years (e.g. 1 pack a day for 30 years, or 2 packs a day for 15 years)

Your healthcare provider will help determine your eligibility based on your age, smoking history, and other clinical factors. If suitable, they will provide a referral for a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan of the lungs.

1. Visit your healthcare provider for an eligibility assessment and obtain a referral.
2. Call any of our Medscan clinics — our friendly team will assist you with booking your CT Lung Screening.
3. All NLCSP-related CT scans at Medscan are Bulk Billed, meaning there are no out-of-pocket costs to you.

What to Expect During a Lung Screening CT Scan

A Low-Dose CT (LDCT) Lung Scan is a quick, painless, and non-invasive test that provides detailed images of your lungs to help detect early signs of cancer.

• No preparation is required
 • The scan itself takes less than 30 seconds
 • Your entire appointment typically takes 10–15 minutes
 • Our medical team will be with you throughout to ensure you are comfortable and informed
 • After your scan, one of our experienced radiologists will review your images and send the report directly to your referring doctor
